Eastern Surfing Association
The Situation: Executive Director, Michelle Sommers, at world’s largest amateur surfing organization (Eastern Surfing Association) lacking high quality content showcasing the high level of competition that comes through on a year to year basis.
The Task: Using high quality cinematic content, inspire young East Coast surfers to take the most effective path to the professional ranks.
The Action: The Shoots Media team jumped into action as soon as we identified the Eastern Surfing Association’s pain point. The creative team immediately began the pre-production process to get a better understanding of the project scope. After numerous phone calls, the team decided that the Eastern Championships would be the best opportunity to capture an accurate representation of the organization’s top talent. With location already taken care of (Nags Head, NC) various phone calls, meetings and skype conferences were conducted with the Executive Director, her team members, and several surfers to gather as much information surrounding the culture of the Eastern Surfing Association. Before the Shoots Media team hopped in the car down to Nags Head, a meticulous plan was put into place to effectively position the ESA as the United States premiere amateur surfing organization.
The Result: Three daily recap videos were created for use across the Eastern Surfing Association’s social media platforms. (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). In addition to the daily recap videos, a high-quality competition recap video was created, presenting the ESA brand in a new, more relatable fashion to their 8-18-year-old demographic. After reinvigorating the prestigious ESA image, the Shoots Media team was signed on to produce a documentary highlighting the Eastern Surfing Association’s first 50 years.
